The 5 stages of business

The 5 stages of business

When folks are considering joining one of my programs, they often ask me if they are in the right stage of business for this particular course.

Because I love the bicycle, because I love a fun graphic/map, and to help clients sign up for the right course, I offer you the 5 stages of business (in relation to the 5 stages of biking:)

Stage 1 - scooting

Experimenting to find out if you even like biking. Learning balance in a new and unfamiliar way of moving.

Stage 2 - pedals

Adding pedals takes your feet off the ground and uses a combination of simple machines (systems, practices, and skills) to move you and your bicycle from one place to another.

Stage 3 - gears

Gears make riding a bike easier. The skill of shifting before a hill and using gears + chain tension to go faster with more ease.

Stage 4 - Specializing

Racing, competing, touring, taking things to the next level and playing with others who have refined their cycling career. Typically these levels of cycling include a support team and a meaningful goal.

Stage 5 - Ebike

Using more than just your personal energy to travel longer distances. It's a larger and more complicated system, so it has a whole new level of responsibilities + opportunities.

The key thing here is that any stage of riding is up to you - you are the one who gets to decide when you want to advance in a stage. If the stage you are currently in is working for you, rock it, ride it, and love it!

Which stage of business are you in and what are the skills, systems, and practices that are supporting you to drive your bike/business that is both fun and meaningful?

Now that you know your stage - you might be wondering which course is the best next step....find out more about the programs here
